Jenny Williams Therapy in Forbes Health!

A huge thank you to Emily Laurence for including Jenny Williams Therapy in her August 2023 Forbes Health article, Brainspotting: How It Works and What to Expect.

We had the chance to discuss the ins and outs of Brainspottiing and how to decide if it’s a good fit for you.

From the article:

“Brainspotting unlocks the body’s natural healing mechanisms, harnessing its ability to ‘self-scan’ to gain direct access to the [the parts of the brain] where traumatic experience is stored,” adds Jenny Williams, a licensed psychotherapist who also uses brainspotting with clients.

When a therapist identifies a “brainspot” (which is a specific point in the client’s visual field that is associated with a particular emotion or experience), they can help the person focus on that spot and process the associated emotions, explains Williams. “Processing in this way can lead to relief from symptoms such as anxiety, depression and physical pain”.

The goal of brainspotting is to move the client from a state of dysregulation—or feelings of distress, emotional pain, anxiety—to regulation—or relief from these symptoms—as efficiently and effectively as possible.
