Jenny Williams, LCSW

I’m Jenny.

I’m a licensed psychotherapist with advanced training in EMDR, IFS, and Brainspotting, cutting-edge therapies that help individuals access trauma stored in the body. My practice has a unique focus on trauma and creativity; with over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have helped countless individuals overcome their traumas and unlock their creative potential.

I believe that creativity can be a powerful tool for healing trauma, and I integrate various innovative mind-body modalities into therapy sessions. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them tap into their innate creativity and use it as a means of self-expression and healing.

With a compassionate and supportive approach, I help clients break free from the limitations of trauma and connect with their authentic selves. I am deeply committed to helping clients heal from the inside out and live their lives to the fullest.

MY APPROACH

As a licensed psychotherapist, I provide my clients with the most up-to-date change strategies in order to help them achieve positive change in personal, professional, and creative pursuits. As a certified Brainspotting consultant and practitioner, my primary areas of expertise include trauma healing, creativity, and performance expansion. I am also a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) practitioner, and have extensive training and experience in mindfulness, meditation, somatic embodiment, parts work, and breath-work. I consider my work to be IFS-informed, Polyvagal-aware, and influenced by attachment and psychodynamic theories. My work is lgbtq+ affirmative, culturally humble, and always honors the intrinsic connection between mind and body.

how will i help?

Your experience of therapy is as unique as you are. With this in mind, I offer a holistic and highly personalized approach, tailored to your specific strengths and circumstances. I deeply value the relationship created in therapy and offer a warm, containing, and collaborative space where you'll be accepted and welcomed. My approach is grounded in empathy and intuition - I'm passionate about helping individuals realize their true power, purpose, and potential.

As your therapist I am here to support your mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual wellness, and to equip you with effective tools to empower yourself when life gets complicated. Our journey together will focus on clearing inner obstacles that affect your confidence, creativity, and connection with yourself and others. Therapy can enhance your natural creativity, help you find balance, and support you to live joyfully and freely in a life that is not dictated by the past. In our work together, many of my clients notice an organic shift toward a state of emotional health and creative vitality, moving away from feeling stuck or struggling in "survival mode" to thriving in their lives and careers.

I believe that everyone deserves a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated ally to support them when life gets complicated.

MY CLINICAL experience

I was inspired to become a therapist after experiencing the transformational power of conscious, compassionate self-observation via my own training in mindfulness and meditation. I received my MSW from UCLA, and completed my psychodynamic clinical training in the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles. I completed post-graduate training at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, providing individual, family, group, and school counseling to children and families. I then worked in a private group practice in West LA, providing trauma-focused psychotherapy to actors and entertainment industry professionals. Prior to opening my own private practice back in Manhattan, I spent several years working at a counseling and wellness practice, running a meditation and mindfulness group and providing individual and couples therapy to creative professionals and people in the lgbtq+ community. I am very proud to now be the founder of a woman-owned business!

my background

Prior to becoming a licensed psychotherapist I obtained a BA in Drama in the UK, and worked as a creative in London and New York. I continue to be passionate about creative expression and love working with those who are too. As a dual citizen equally comfortable in the US and the UK, I bring a unique international perspective to my work. I am sensitive to the complexities of cross-cultural living, and enjoy exploring issues of acculturation, identity and all aspects of migration (including the overall experience of not-being-at-home).

My work is rooted in sound, evidence-based techniques, drawing from somatic perspectives, positive psychology, and current research in neuroscience.
