Brainspotting Intensives

A Different Way to Do Therapy

Brainspotting Intensives are immersive experiences for clients and creative professionals who want to reconnect with deeper intelligence of their systems. While weekly Brainspotting sessions support meaningful change over time, a Brainspotting intensive builds on that foundation by offering extended, uninterrupted space, allowing safety to deepen, and trauma processing or performance expansion work to unfold at the nervous system’s own pace.

With extra space and time, the system often goes further on its own, leading to experiences that many clients describe as profoundly integrative and transformative.

Intensives are designed for people who want to work deeply and efficiently. Clients often describe feeling more settled, clearer, and less burdened after an intensive, because the brain and body finally had enough time to process.

  • This approach may be a good option if:

    • You regularly feel constrained by the limits of a standard therapy hour

    • Long gaps between sessions make it difficult to stay connected to the work

    • You understand your patterns but still feel emotionally stuck

    • You want meaningful change without committing to ongoing weekly therapy

Intensives are commonly chosen by clients who value depth, focus, momentum and the power of presence. Multi-hour sessions take place in-person in my Cold Spring office location, which is walkable from Cold Spring train station (on the Metro North / Hudson line).

  • Brainspotting is a somatic therapy that works with the body’s natural capacity to process stress, trauma, and emotional overwhelm. Instead of relying primarily on talking or analysis, Brainspotting uses the visual field to access areas of the brain where experiences are stored below conscious awareness.

When these areas are gently activated, the nervous system can complete processing that may have been interrupted in the past. This often leads to reduced emotional reactivity, a greater sense of internal stability, and increased access to clarity, focus and creative capacity.

  • An intensive format allows therapy to unfold without repeatedly stopping and restarting. Rather than spending time each week re-orienting, the work can deepen naturally.

Sessions are scheduled in longer blocks over one or two days, giving space for the nervous system to move at its own pace. This can be especially helpful for busy people with limited availability, those traveling for therapy, or anyone wanting a more contained, immersive experience.

  • 90 minute Preparation Session

Before the intensive, we meet for a planning session. During this time we:

    • Clarify your intentions and areas of focus

    • Explore current challenges and resources

    • Identify themes that may guide the intensive work

This session ensures the intensive itself feels grounded and inentional.

    Intensive Sessions (3 hours each)

Each intensive session lasts three hours. These extended sessions allow for deeper regulation and processing than shorter appointments typically allow.

You may choose to schedule between one and three intensive sessions depending on your goals and needs.

    60 minute Integration Session

After completing the intensive work, we meet again to support integration. This session focuses on:

    • Reflecting on changes and insights

    • Supporting nervous system stabilization

    • Discussing how to carry the work into daily life

Integration helps ensure the benefits of the intensive continue beyond the sessions themselves.

  • Clients often choose intensives because they offer:

    • Greater efficiency: meaningful shifts may occur in a shorter period of time

    • Focused attention: fewer interruptions and more continuity

    • Long-term value: when compared with months of weekly sessions, intensives can be a more effective use of time and resources

  • Following your intensive, you will leave with:

    • A clearer sense of internal shifts

    • Practical nervous system tools for ongoing support

    • A plan for maintaining regulation and forward movement

Ongoing therapy after your intensive is optional; many clients find the intensive itself provides meaningful resolution.
